1st Call becomes our newest Employer Partner

We are so pleased to announce that 1st Call Plant has become the latest construction company to unite with AccXel to tackle the severe skills shortage in the construction sector.

They have pledged to upskill their current workforce through our Skill STEPS Programme, and are also giving our apprentices guaranteed employment whilst completing their studies at our facility.

1st Call Plant is one of the UK’s leading plant hire companies. Although their head office is based in Swindon, they have hubs situated across the country allowing them to operate nationwide. They have an extensive range of plant operators including Dumpers, Excavators, Rollers and Telehandlers. Through continued investment, 1st Call Plant ensures that their fleet of machinery is always under 18 months old. This to ensure they stay up to date with health and safety regulations and technology.

Another reason why 1st Call continues to stay ahead of technological advances is so that they can significantly reduce their carbon footprint. Through acquiring the newest machinery from Komatsu, Hitachi, Caterpillar, Kubota, JCB and Manitou, they have cut their fuel consumption down by 30% and drastically reduced their carbon emissions. They have also invested in technology which can convert any of their machines to use bio-oil instead of crude oil.

When speaking on the partnership, Nicola Bird said “We were really impressed to find out about 1st Call’s dedication to reducing their carbon footprint. Plant operations are an integral part of the construction industry and are one of the largest contributors to the industry’s environmental impact. At AccXel we are promoting sustainability in construction and want to get more people thinking about their impact on the environment. We are so glad to know that our newest Employer Partner 1st Call is also championing this sustainability and reducing the industry’s carbon footprint too.”
