Walters unites with AccXel to Construct Futures

This month at AccXel, we have had a lot to celebrate. Last week we had the pleasure to welcome many of you to the official opening of AccXel and if that wasn’t exciting enough, we have more incredible news to share before Christmas!

This week, we have the pleasure to announce that Walters has become our newest Employer Partner! This is yet another fantastic development for AccXel, as Walters is one of the largest independent construction companies based in the UK and they have pledged to upskill their current workforce and give employment to our apprentices throughout the duration of their studies.

If you weren’t already familiar with Walters, let us introduce you to them. Walters is a leading civil engineering, plant and development company based in the UK. They were founded by Gweirydd Walters (more commonly known as ‘Dai’) nearly forty years ago. The company has grown exponentially since its inception, and their team has gained an excellent reputation within the sector for providing the highest quality service in everything that they do. Their roaring success has helped them diversify into other related sectors such as infrastructure and renewable energy.

Despite being a huge corporation, Walters still operates like any other family-run business. They are known for recognising talented individuals and for encouraging them to learn, develop and grow with the company. Many of their key members of management have been promoted from within, some of which have been at Walters for over 25 years. Their ability to nurture and grow talent within their team is something that we at AccXel highly admire and want to encourage within other businesses through educational opportunities such as our Skill Steps Programmes.

Last week, Walters’ Chief Operating Officer, Huw Richards, attended our launch event and commented “In the 29 years I have been working at Walters, I have never seen anything quite like AccXel.”

Speaking on the partnership with Walters, Natalie Bell, AccXel’s Growth & Partnership Director, has said “It is fantastic to have a company like Walters partnering with AccXel. They have demonstrated that they are very forward-thinking in their approach to everything they do. They recognised very early that if you give your employees opportunities to learn and grow, they are more likely to retain talented individuals within their company. They have also shown great foresight towards the sustainability issue within construction, by diversifying their company into the renewable energy sector. We are very proud to be working with a like-minded forward-thinking company like Walters.’
